And The Winner Is… Hard Hitting Lessons From Hollywood

During the covid lockdowns myself and my wife Allison decided to watch every Film that had been nominated for an Oscar or a Bafta this century.

That’s a lot of films!

To make it harder, not only in the best film category but in several other categories, the list ended up at over 100 films.

We’ve continued to add films to the list and are still working through them, there is no end in sight!

To give you some idea of the task, Gladiator was released in 2000, think of all the nominated films to come after that.

While there is no doubt about the quality of most of the films however, my biggest lesson so far came from one that was only nominated for 1 Oscar, Actor in a leading role.

That Film was “Roman J Israel Esq”

I am sure not many people have seen it,it’s one of those that slipped under the radar, so not too many Spoilers.

RJI Esq contained two of the best quotes from a film that I’ve heard in several years.

If you’ve not seen it, Denzil Washington plays a (genius) Lawyer with what I assume Is Aspergers Syndrome (I’m not a doctor, so don’t quote me on that).
