Build Good Habits
Habits Can BeThe Final Part Of The Jigsaw
Over the years, I have found that if I want to start and finish something, I need to create a habit; otherwise, I’ll just give up.
My habit-forming process is always very similar; I start by easing into it, for example, When I wanted to write daily, I started by writing a 200-word article every day, It was hard very hard at first but over a week or two my brain got attuned to it and it became easier
Then, when 200 words got easy, I’ upped my target to 300 then 400 and finally a minimum of 500 words.
Now, if I have an idea, I can write thousands of words on the topic without much bother.
Habits Work!
A few years ago, I decided to get fit; I hadn’t run for about 30 years, so I decided to do a C25K program (couch to 5K).
Every two days, I was out walking and running a little further, slowly building up how long I was running for.
8 weeks after starting I ran 5k in about 30 minutes without stopping.
A year ago, I decided to write a medium article every day for 60 days to get into the habit of writing.
A year later, I am here with almost 300 articles written, and I love the process of writing every day. I can’t imagine not doing it.
