A reader asked me recently:

“Great tips, Mark. But how do we know who our target audience is?”

It’s a fair question. Most advice tells you to “define your niche” or “create an avatar”

But that can feel vague or even forced when you start. I don’t think I’ve ever gone into a niche knowing who my audience is, and I’ve never created an avatar.

Here’s a more straightforward way to figure it out without getting stuck. I use this method every time I enter a new niche.
