People find stories captivating; TV and Movies would be nowhere without them.

For thousands of years, we’ve used them to hand down valuable lessons.

As a content creator or marketer, a story based article, email or newsletter is one of the most effective ways to connect with your audience and drive engagement.

Why?

Because people relate to stories on a personal level.

Creating a story email doesn’t have to be complex. Here’s a simple framework I use.

  1. Find a story. It could be a personal anecdote, a customer’s experience, or even a headline from the news. Keep it relatable and relevant to your audience.
  2. Draw a lesson. What’s the takeaway? The lesson doesn’t have to be profound. Simple insights are often the most impactful. For instance, a story about perseverance can lead to a lesson on staying consistent in achieving goals.
  3. Tie it to a call to action. Every great story email should guide readers to take the next step. Whether it’s signing up for a webinar, checking out a product, or replying to your email, make the action clear and effortless.

Story emails work because they’re engaging, memorable, and human.

They help your audience see themselves in the narrative, making your message more impactful.

Next time you sit down to write, think of a story you can share.

Start small, follow this structure, and watch how your audience connects.
