But it’s risky not to start

A few years ago, I thought the blogging era was behind us, gone the way of the fax machine and MySpace.
Google wasn’t sending traffic like it used to. The top of the Google listing was just a mass of ads; Social media was taking over.
Most people had a similar opinion to mine and assumed blogging had peaked in 2010.
But we were wrong, here’s what actually happened:
Blogging didn’t die. It changed, it hibernated, it metamorphosed (is that even a word?), it bided its time.
Right now, it’s back, and it’s one of the most important things you can start at any age, at any stage of your career, with any level of tech skill.
I suppose I’d better explain my thinking…

Years ago, I had hundreds of blogs ranking on Google. I knew the SEO game, and I played it well. But then, overnight the rules changed. Content that didn’t fit in with Google's ideas got penalised.
This was back in the “naughties”, since then things have changed several times, all driven by Google.
