What Has Happened To Medium??

I love Medium, and I love writing on Medium, but something seems to have gone seriously wrong.

The Exodus

The first thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of well-established writers I follow are leaving the platform.

There seem to be many reasons for this, with earnings being reduced significantly and an influx of bots and spam accounts being two of the most commonly cited issues.

Personally, I’ve noticed that a lot of the new content I see is obviously “highly influenced” by AI.

For example, look at the engagement on one article I looked at today:

That’s impressive, and I’d love to write an article like it.

But let’s look at if it is AI

It’s like they aren’t even trying to hide this content. What makes it worse is the owner of this account has picked up over 186,000 followers since May.
