We like to think we’re rational creatures.

Give us a to-do list, and we’ll knock it out. Give us a business plan, and we’ll follow it.

At least, that’s what we say.

But then the day shows up when it’s time to take action.

You sit down to write, and somehow end up deep-diving into Wikipedia to learn about Roman emperors and the history of silver coinage. (This may or may not be a true story.)

You tell yourself it’s research. It’s not, you start to feel like you must be lazy, doing everything to avoid the real task.

But the truth is, you’re not lazy. You’re just wired differently, and by “differently,” I mean very, very human.

Most people aren’t held back by a lack of talent or tools.

They’re held back by hidden beliefs that run silently in the background, like malware.

And those beliefs?

They’re installed when we’re young, by well-meaning teachers, random comments, old clichés like “money is the root of all evil,” or even just a group of kids calling you “frog” because you won a high…
